Workshop: Building an agentic AI tutor for biomedical and life sciences

Join GCLS AI Academy at RGMBS in Riyadh for a hands-on workshop on building grounded, governed AI tutors without coding.

Build a working AI tutor in one morning

GCLS AI Academy is presenting a hands-on workshop at the Riyadh Global Medical Biotechnology Summit. Participants will build an AI tutor for their own biomedical or clinical field without programming experience or software installation.

The workshop takes place on September 16, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at RGMBS in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Dr. Omar Saleem, physician and founder of GCLS AI Academy, will lead the session.

From trusted knowledge to grounded answers

Participants will ground their tutor in a selected knowledge pack and configure it to cite every answer. When a question falls outside the approved sources, the tutor will decline or escalate rather than inventing information.

The same approach can be applied across genomics, immunology, bioengineering, vaccines, biomanufacturing, and clinical care.

  • Define the model, knowledge pack, tools, assessor, and guardrails without writing code.
  • Enforce source-grounded answers, human escalation, step budgets, and evaluation gates.
  • Adapt the tutor to a new domain or language, including a complete Arabic-native version.

Add assessment and learner memory

The workshop goes beyond building a chatbot. Participants will add an AI assessor agent that asks questions, evaluates responses, corrects mistakes, and re-explains material at the learner's level.

Per-learner memory enables the tutor to respond to individual progress and gaps while keeping the learning experience within defined academic and governance boundaries.

Responsible AI for biomedical education

The session covers data provenance, bias, transparency, appropriate use, and the controls required for high-stakes learning. Participants will see how a governed tutor can refuse unsupported answers and pass an evaluation gate before deployment.

This work supports RGMBS's Biotech Capability Building pillar and Saudi Arabia's goal of growing the skilled biotechnology workforce.
